In a bid to curb the nuisance of public drinking, Calangute Police Station has launched a drive to book cases against individuals found drinking in public places. This move comes after numerous instances of tourists throwing alcohol bottles on the beach, leading to injuries from broken glass and even drowning cases after consuming alcohol.
Calangute Police Station has booked 21 cases against individuals found drinking in public places from January 1st to till date and have collected a total of Rs. 42,000/- in fines from the accused and this drive will continue to ensure the safety of tourists and maintain cleanliness on the beaches.
