Stating that deeds of corruption, commission, mismanagement, collapse of law and order have forced BJP to shrink assembly sessions of March, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has said that it is a matter of worry as Goa will further suffer.
Congress leader Alemao was reacting to the summoning of the ninth session of eight legislative assembly for mere three days starting from March 24.
“BJP’s decision to summon an assembly session for only three days in March suggests that the government is afraid to face opposition and is evading its responsibility to deliver justice to the people. There are many pressing issues which need to be debated, but it is afraid of getting exposed how we exposed them in the two days sittings of February assembly session. This move undermines the principles of democracy and erodes the rights of legislators,” Alemao said.
“Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar had told the media that the government will convene a longer budget session in March. Every time they give such assurances when the media questions them, but then they fail to keep their words. It is only because their ministers are involved in corruption and commission,” Alemao said.
“Do they dare to debate on cash for jobs, land conversions, Suleman Siddiqui case, Mhadei diversion, accidents?. They are afraid to face opposition and also to activists, hence they have misused power and sent Rama Kankonkar behind bars. People of Goa will not forgive this dictatorial government,” Alemao said.
“I condemn the government’s decision to slim the assembly session. United opposition will expose this corrupt government even during these three days of assembly session,” Alemao said.
