The Institution of Engineers India – Goa State Centre (IEI-GSC) hosted a prestigious event that brought together distinguished industry leaders, engineers, and technocrats from across the country. The event, was attended by 93 participants & was aimed to discuss about energy conservation.
The compere welcomed the guests and introduced the event, setting a warm and engaging tone for the day. The National Anthem was played, followed by an inspiring IEI Film showcasing the organization’s vision, achievements, and its critical role in the development of engineering across India. The formal part of the event began with the formation of the dais and the lighting of the lamp, followed by floral welcome to dignitaries on and off the dais.
Shri. Anwar Khan, Chairman of IEI-GSC, delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the importance of collaboration between industry and academia in shaping the future of engineering. He underscored the role of IEI-GSC in fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing in the region. Chairman also briefed the audience about benefits of being IEI member.
The next speaker, Shri. Mahesh Prabhu, President of the ASHRAE Mumbai Chapter, provided an insightful introduction on ASHRAE’s significant contributions to the field of HVAC&R and its growing association with IEI. Shri. Prabhu emphasized the need for continued dialogue on sustainable engineering practices.
Er. Balkrishna Chodankar, Committee Member and Convenor of IEI-GSC, elaborated on the about the program and its agenda, offering a detailed overview of the event’s structure and key discussions to follow.
The highlight of the event was the address by the Chief Guest, Shri. Vivek Kamat, Director of the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa. In his speech, Shri. Kamat spoke about the evolving landscape of technical education and the importance of integrating modern engineering practices with academic curricula to prepare future leaders. He also highlighted the government’s initiatives to promote research, innovation, and the digitization of education across India.
Further enriching the discussions, Shri. Anish Sousa, CEO of Zesso Ventures Pvt. Ltd., shared his perspective on the role of emerging technologies in reshaping the business landscape. His talk focused on the advantages and benefits of installing a solar power plant in the region, highlighting its potential to enhance sustainability, reduce energy costs, and contribute to the local community’s energy independence.
Shri. Rupesh Umtol, Co-Founder and COO at Qi Square Pte. Ltd., Singapore, and Global Head of Digital Twins & Allied Services at SoftTech Engineers Ltd., captivated the audience with his expertise on Digital Twins and their potential to revolutionize engineering practices. His session explored how digital twins are transforming industries like manufacturing, infrastructure, and urban planning.
The event concluded with the presentation of mementos and further with a vote of thanks by the Hon. Secretary, IEI-GSC, Er. Siddhant Dubhashi expressing gratitude to all participants, sponsors, speakers, and attendees for making the event a resounding success. Er. Siddhant also informed the participants about the upcoming events of IEI-GSC, in his speech.
